Seriously…. You can get in shape and enjoy the process!!!

But where do you start? How do you get in shape? Who should you seek out for assistance? What do you eat? How do you exercise? Is it hard? These were all questions I was asking when I started to get in shape and change my lifestyle to a healthier one. What’s the big deal? Well the BIG DEAL with getting fit is “You can feel amazing” AND you can do it from anywhere in the world. Even an island somewhere warm and sunny.

Keep Reading to the end because I am going to show you something really cool!

Before being able to get in the best shape of my life I was a recent college graduate, eating myself out of a house and a home, all while looking for employment. I was bored, depressed, and yes I was fat (or overweight to be politically correct)! I wasn’t out enjoying life, friends, or relationships…. I was missing out on everything the world had to offer… especially the hot sunny beaches.

So I joined the gym and started to work out (coming from a sports background thinking that’s how you lose weight) and take pictures in the mirror. I figured I was on my way to a life of sexiness so working out continued…….

Now on this journey to getting fit and feeling amazing, I am going to share with you a path that I took and the core fundamentals that you need in order to get in the best shape of your life. More importantly, I am going to give you a massive short cut to my journey if this is something that you want to explore further – WHICH I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!



One word “NUTRITION”! This is hands down the best avenue out there to help you reach your goal. No it is not your genes although that does play a small part into it. It is your lifestyle and most importantly the things that you put into your mouth that will help you look and function in any which way you desire.


My suggestion, which is based on a good amount of experience, is to eat a balanced diet paired with dietary supplements to fill in the gaps where your diet does not or cannot reach. A balanced diet means getting the right amount of key nutrients daily, up to 30% of our daily calories from healthy fats, 40% from carbs and 30% from proteins.


Getting in shape can be hard if you think it’s hard but it can be equally easy and enjoying if you want it to be. Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right!” The same concept is applied here, it can be simple or it can be difficult but whatever your thoughts are around it will make the choice for you. I suggest you choose wisely. For a basic plan to get you to set up this is what you can start with… keep in mind that all you have to do it start:

  1. Nutrition: No white bread, rice, pasta, or potatoes of any kind, No fast food, and no soft drinks or energy drinks.
  2. Fitness: 30 minutes of aerobic exercise DAILY (ex. Jogging, walking, cycling, Zumba, etc.)
  3. Set Goals: Find out what you want, write it down and do something daily working towards that goal


If this is a path that you’ve never gone down before or even a path that you’ve started and stopped many times, then some of this can seem overwhelming and frustrating. It took me about 3 months of consistent effort (and no I was not perfect) to really figure out what worked for me, what I could and couldn’t do. Just keep going, the only workout you’ll regret is the one you didn’t do, the only meal you’ll regret is the one you didn’t cook…. Everyone makes mistakes what matters most is how you get up from those mistakes!
